Yvonne off to collect a unique award

Princess of Africa off to receive a prestigious award
SOUTH African songbird Yvonne Chaka-Chaka jets out of the country later this month to receive a prestigious award from the World Economic Forum for her work in the field of malaria.Chaka-Chaka says the award will only challenge her to work even harder for the African continent.The Unicef goodwill ambassador against malaria will be flying to Davos in Switzerland on January 23 to accept a statuette.

Hip-Hop Awards on cards



THE FIRST-EVER Zimbabwe Hip Hop Awards will take place at the exquisite 7 Arts Theatre on December 7. A brainchild of Aldrian Harrison, the founder and executive designer for AH Clothing & Unleashed, an online hip hop magazine, the awards are aimed at giving exposure to unsigned Zimbabwean Hip Hop artistes giving them a platform to showcase their talents to their own people before taking it beyond the borders.

D'Banj to be honoured at Channel O Music Awards

Nigerian superstar, D'Banj, has been named as this year's Special Recognition award recipient at the upcoming Channel O Music Video Awards which will be broadcast LIVE on Friday November 11. D'Banj follows in the footsteps of many of Africa's most prominent and successful musicians including K'NAAN who was given the Special Recognition award in 2010, Brenda Fassie in 2009 as well as George Lee in 2008.
Being honoured in this way by the Channel O Music Video Awards, brought to you in association with Hyundai, is even more notable for the fact that D'Banj released his debut album just six years ago.

Tuku ranked one of Africa’s top celebrities


Barely six months after being crowned Unicef Goodwill Ambassador for Eastern and Southern Africa, music superstar, Oliver Mtukudzi has done it again. Tuku, as he is affectionately called in the music circles has been added to the Forbes Magazine 40 Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa.

The hunt is on for nominees for the 2012 Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA). The London-based awards aim to celebrate a broad array of artistic talent, business, community work and overall demonstrable achievement by Zimbabweans across the world.

The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards is the pinnacle of celebration of talent, art, business, expression and achievement in the Zimbabwean community throughout a very broad spectrum of genre. The Z.A.A is a distinctly special awards ceremony seeking to recognise Zimbabweans who have pushed the limits against all odds to raise the Zimbabwean flag high and do both themselves and their fellow countrymen proud, the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards aim to recognise the commitment to excellence, creativity, innovation and dedication of those Zimbabweans who have continued to expand on their talents and skill-set whilst celebrating their heritage. 

New BEFFTA Magazine 2011


As BEFFTA awards UK begins it’s 14 day campaign of showing love and discovering the nominees through web-voting, there is a new magazine that the public will be reading to find out more about the talented nominees in entertainment, film, fashion, television and arts.

The BEFFTA magazine which is an extension of the awards ceremony and BEFFTA TV show will be going live online shortly with the print version available on 22nd October at the red carpet prestigious award ceremony. Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) Back after a long absence

The Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA), the country’s own version of the glitzy American Grammys, have roared back into life after four years of inactivity blamed on economic hard times. The awards will now be held on a date to be disclosed soon but the organizers hinted the event would possibly be as soon as January, 2012.
