Top African actors, John Dumelo and Mercy John will join a host of celebs as special guests at the 3rd edition of the Afro Australian Music And Movie Awards (AAMMA) slated for Sydney, Australia on October 15.
The award ceremony which will be hosted at the Enmore Theatre, Newtown Sydney will also see appearances from Pascal Atuma, Awilo Longomba, NSW Opposition Leader MP John Robertson, Nigerian High Commissioner, Ayo Olukanni, Desmond Elliot and Laj.
The AAMMA which is the only African award event in Australia and New Zealand was created in 2007 by Daniel Okoduwa to instill in the youths a sense of hard work, discipline and dedication to careers especially in the arts. This award event celebrates, appreciates and encourages talents within and outside the African community of Australia, the African continent and Diaspora; ‘Friends of Africa’ are also appreciated.

In 2010 scrim entertainment collaborated with Actors guild of Nigeria (Australia chapter) to host the event, a relationship that has lasted till now. Past winners include: Tuface Idibia, Emmerson Bockarie, Jimmy Bangura, Monalisa Chinda, Ejike Asiegbu, Afro Moses and Tarisai Vishe.
